How to crack Capgemini

Hi Guys, I am Alisha Anjum from CSE department. Heard Capgemini is hiring SRM students this year in a few days, hence, I wanted to share my experience with you guys.

My only inspiration that got through Capgemini online test and other rounds was failing the Wipro test. So the first thing you should have in your mind before any placement drive is “whatever is happening in my life, keep it aside and give this my best”. Get so much into the “I have to get through this company today” mood, nothing’s going to pull you down. You just need two things: self confidence and trust in that self confidence. While all my friends and classmates where done with their placements, I and few other friends were fighting this battle called placements. So guys out there still unplaced, please get serious. What are you waiting for, definitely CG (Capgemini) is a good company to start off your career. you’re not alone, even I got through this then why wont you? Leave all the past failures behind, just take the brighter side of it and gear yourself up with lots of positivity and self-inspiration.

4th October

The day I failed my Wipro online test, it was 7:45 PM when they announced the results and I still couldn’t believe that I could not get through Wipro too, one of the mass recruiters. And a few days later, i.e, October 8,2013 Capgemini was coming to SRM. By the time I got it was 9.30, I didnt lose hope, without having my dinner I was busy searching for Capgemini placement Papers 2013 in Google. http://placement.freshersworld.com/placement-papers/company/Capgemini/229 So I got an idea of how the tests will be the interview questions are going to be. i sat down the whole night and prepared some online aptitude tests at Indiabix.

5th October

It’s never too late to get what you really want in life. I was working out quants again because I knew this was the only barrier between me and my career. R.S.Agarwal for aptitude was also pretty good. But just don’t completely depend on it, take as many online tests as possible, right now knowing where you’re going wrong is more important than learning anything new.

6th October

It was a Sunday. My dad had dropped me at the main campus – 1 hour non-stop lecture drive. He thought I wasn’t capable of placements and kept deviating me to do higher studies. At that time all I had was patience and hope, I didn’t want to argue with him at all. The online test began, it is mandatory to carry your hall ticket or you’ll have to wait till others gave their tests. I was in the first few batches to give my test.

The important part of the day

0.25 negative marking was there for every wrong answer and each section had individual cut off. So, you have to clear in all three sections and duration of the exam was 90 min.

1st : Written test contains 3 section ( English + Reasoning + Maths 25 questions each)

1st: English: Error correction, idioms ,synonyms, antonyms were there and some fill in the blanks on articles and there were 2 passages; it was easy. (I didn’t prepare for this section but if you want to do then follow Indiabix) as per my knowledge cutoff here for this was 18+.

2nd: Reasoning: In this, two questions on flow chart followed by 8-10 questions, syllogism, statement and conclusion, statement and assumption, 2 questions from series , 2 question from blood relation, 2 questions from coding and decoding. R S Agarwal (verbal and non verbal) is more than enough it was ok-ok in terms of difficulty level. As per my knowledge cutoff here for this was 18+.

3rd: Maths: number system, trigonometry, area, triangle, volume, age, profit loss, pie chart, Arithmetic propagation, boat problem, time and distance, ( in short have to do all chapters of R S Agarwal cannot leave even a single chapter) it was tough section in comparison to above two, time management is required here. As per my knowledge cutoff here for this was 14+.

After written test they announced the results and next round was GD and then followed by HR on next day.

7th October 2013

My GD topic was Globalization Vs Nationalism. Infact, the 13 candidates in a group chose this topic. CG guys were pretty chilled out in GD round.

Just focus on your body language, communication skills, be calm even if anyone goes against you don’t fight or respond just focus on your points and don’t loss your grip on that (because it’s not debate), innovation, valid points and facts if you are sure about any recent survey or such can help you, most important point: conclusion, must be there in your mind to wrap all things in last one minute, don’t deviate from the topic, try to make eye contact with other member, never look towards HR or the panel, if you can remember the name to get plus point for yourself, try to speak at least 2,3 times (as ours was very long GD so 2,3 times was not sufficient but for most of the time it works in favor if GD duration is 15 min).

8th October, 2013

I was at the T. P. Ganesan auditorium by 7.30 AM and they called out my name at 5:20 PM. There is nothing more exhausting than waiting for your turn. Please carry biscuits, glucose, lunch and water bottle in a bag and keep your interview file separately. The best thing that can happen to me is my friends were there with me, every time I felt tired, they got me food and juices.

My interview was for around 40 minutes. In the whole day, everyone were asked HR questions, I didn’t hear anyone coming out with technical questions being asked to them. When i went in, the guy who interviewed me was in his late 40s. He went through my resume and started asking technical questions. He asked me 12 technical questions from my resume (be careful in updating your resume, print all that you can answer alone). I didnt show him that I was nervous, I answered 8/12, other 4 he explained it to me step by step. He asked if I have any questions, I asked him a doubt I had from the pre-placement talk. He was quite impressed by the fact that I paid attention to the talk. I got back home by 8 and results were out by 9. That moment was the best of all, and I was placed at Capgemini. My dad didnt say anything, but deep down inside his heart he was so proud of me.

I am the first daughter in my whole family going for work, out of home, out of Chennai. It has been one month at C. I’m home now for a long weekend with my first salary; feels really great. I have done my part, you should start working on yours. All the very best. thanks for reading patiently, I hope it helps you. God bless you
