The Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT) is located at Sarang in the industrial belt of Talcher, Angul district in the Indian state of Odisha. It was established in 1982 by the government of Odisha. In addition to four year Undergraduate degree courses, it offers three year Diploma courses in a few technical disciplines and a 3- year postgraduate degree in computer applications. It offers Postgraduate degree courses in Engineering. The college has 172 acres (0.70 km2) of land and it is situated near the Brahmani River. Prof. B.C.Panda is the current Director of IGIT Sarang. The institute is accredited by NBA. It is affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology(BPUT) and State Council for Technical Education & Vocational Training (SCTE & VT). Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), Sarang was established in the year of 1982 and was managed directly by the Govt. of Odisha in the name of Odisha College of Engineering (OCE). Prior to this, since 1981, the institute in the name of Modern Polytechnic (MPT) was offering Diploma Courses in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Mining Survey Engineering. In the year 1987, both OCE and MPT were merged and renamed as IGIT, Sarang and the management was transferred to an Autonomous Society.
